3. The Dover, Mayfair:

Overlooked and subtle, The Dover opens a speakeasy appearance with American Walnut panelling and Art Deco lamps. The highlights here are the zucchini fritti, which is presented as a cigar and the chicken cordon bleu that gives off a warm feeling. End with their baked crème brûlée cheesecake and gourmet Martinis.

4. Il Pampero, The Hari, Belgravia:

Il Pampero’s chef Angelo Albera brings in real Italian recipes at The Hari Hotel serving scallops, pici cacio e pepe. For the sweet dishes, tiramisu is a must, while passionfruit mousse has also gotten a nod. Each Italian classic is accompanied by moody, stylish décor that sets the tone perfectly.

6. Manteca, Shoreditch:

Originally a pop-up, Manteca moved into its own permanent home in Shoreditch with very simple decor and an electric atmosphere. The  mussels, brown crab, as well as the creamy ricotta with courgette deserve a try. Now, an absolute Bib Gourmand for East London.

7. Bardo, St James:

It has a more personal atmosphere and has a touch of glamour together with live music. Dishes include staples of Italian cuisine such as truffle polenta, cacio e pepe ravioli, and veal Milanese. Great for a luxurious dinner date with great lighting.

9. Campania & Jones, East London:

This Southern Italian spot on a cobblestone corner is warm with wooden interiors, pottery by local artisans and robust Sicilian food. A few things I like they serve include their gnudi dumplings in sage butter, their fresh pasta and their boozy tiramisu. Tables are scarce and often grab up quickly with outdoor dining in the summer and heated outdoor tables in the winter.

10. Pizzeria Mozza, Marylebone:

Pizzeria Mozza owned by renowned baker and chef Nancy Silverton has a Mediterranean-themed interior and   Italian-made furniture. Among the recommendations, it is possible to name the fennel sausage pizza with fior di latte and red onions. The Marylebone venue is the place to head for proper antipasti such as light-as-air arancini.
